About Chester
Chester Athletic Football Club which consists of 15 teams 13 boys teams and 2 girls teams.
Chester Athletic is a FA Charter Standard club and was Fa Charter Standard Club of the year 2005/06 which was the season that the girls teams formally known as S.A.F.C. 24/7 joined the club because we had to find a club with the FA Charter Standard Badge
At the moment there are only two team on the girls side of the club a thing we hope to change in the future bringing in more teams at all age levels.
This years U/14 girls team are playing there football in the Northumberland Girls Football League the team itself was formed six years ago and we are trying and hopeing that they will still be together in another six years playing there football in one of the women's football leagues.
Chester U13 girls were formed three years ago and they play there football in the Russell Foster Tyne & Wear Youth League they play 7/aside football on a Saturday and are now also playing 11/aside football on a Sunday.
Chester Coaches
At Chester Athletic we have five FA level one coaches between the two Chester teams and two of them are waiting to take there level two we also have two parents waiting to take there FA level one this will mean that soon we should have seven qualified coaches for the two teams.
Chester also have a fully qualified welfare officer and we encourage all parents and supporters to talk to him if they have any problems and not the coaching staff and it seems to work really well.
Chester Girls Training Sessions
In the summer Chester Athletic Girls train three times a week Tuesday and thursday nights and on a Saturday afternoon.
The night training sessions take place at Seaburn Camp and are from 6.00 untill 7.45 and the Saturday afternoon session takes place at Barnes Park in Sunderland from 1.00 untill 2.45.
In the winter we train on a Wednesday night at Quarry View Junior School in Sunderland the sessions are 6.00 untill 7.00 for the U/13s and 7.00 untill 8.00 for the U/14s and it is played on astra turf under floodlights.
At the training sessions we have four to six training routines which we do on a rotation system which helps keep the numbers of players in each routine down and that makes it easier for the coachers to coach, it's better to have six player in a group than to have sixteen.
At the training sessions and at league games when the coachers ask a player to do something we expect him or her to also explain the reason why and hopefully that will improve the players knowledge of football
Chester Are Always There To Help
At Chester Athletic Girls training sessions we don't only train Chester girls we also train girls from other clubs as well with some player travelling from 10 to 15 miles just to train with Chester which a great testament to the standard of the Chester coaching system and the standard of our coachers who give there time to the club free of charge 12 months a year.
In local girls football leagues teams think that Chester girls are a centre of excellence this we are not and we don't try to pretend that we are but what we do try to do at Chester is do everything that is asked of us by the FA be it coaching bagdes, first aid, child protections and now we have also started to put our player on to junior football organiers courses and referring courses and as soon as they are 16 they will be taking there FA level one coaching bagde. This is the commitment Chester are putting into girls football in the hope of lifting the profile of women's and girls football in the future.
